Innovation in Online Learning
I'm not the only one thinking this way: there have been some excellent steps foward in the past few years, both online and off-line. As the site develops, I'll put articles about my discoveries which I hope you'll find of interest. One excellent example of an intelligent combination of applied learning theory and technical know-how is the 'Head First' series of books from O'Reilly. (Well, it would be O'Reilly wouldn't it?)
Have you heard of Second Life? It's an online virtual community using avatars. I've had a look around there and have found a group of educators who are thinking as I do - looking at applying the power of avatar-based learning.
Equal Learning Opportunities
Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for the non-traditional learner. One of my big dreams is to work with others to create low or no-cost genuine learning opportunities for anyone, young or old, who, for a myriad of reasons, can't access traditional learning systems.
I'm hoping this site will evolve into a place where people come to share ideas and link technologies to push virtual learning forward. So, if you're likeminded, please get in touch!
